Over the last few years, adidas has developed a number of revolutionary materials and technologies to incorporate into its running shoe selection. Eventually, the brand started doing the same with its outdoor shoes. The new Terrex Free Hiker impresses with its sock-like Primeknit comfort, the extra energy provided by BOOST™ technology and the non-slip Continental™ sole.Florian Westermann - Keller Sports Pro
From an aesthetic point of view, the Terrex Free Hiker is very different from other outdoor shoes: instead of looking heavy and bulky, this model has a slimline, lightweight look to it. It has more in common with an adidas training or running shoe than the cumbersome outdoor boots of the past.
BOOST™ technology provides even better energy return than any cushioning material used in running shoes. This material is a blend of soft comfort and noticeable support throughout the shoe. Any energy you put into landing will be returned to you during push-off - an extra energy boost never goes amiss!
The adidas Primeknit upper wraps snugly around the foot, providing support and super-light comfort. The adapted Gore-Tex 3D material makes the shoe wind- and waterproof without sacrificing breathability. The Continental™ rubber sole delivers superb grip, even on wet surfaces.
With the launch of the Terrex Free Hiker, you're witnessing the birth of a new era in the development of outdoor shoes. adidas calls this new development "free hiking", and the brand's new models allow hikers to begin their adventure in the city and make their way out into nature without having to change shoes. These shoes are ideal for spontaneous hikes along back-country trails or more challenging trail runs.
